As a writer and senior book designer based in Denver, Colorado, I am deeply entrenched in literature! I have published two books of poetry: When the Bird Is Not a Human (2018) and Sir (2013). I currently have a narrative nonfiction book under review as well as a book of vignette essays and a young adult trilogy in progress.
As a book designer, I specialize in working with independent publishers as well as individual artists and writers. Now after designing 300 books, my work has truly stretched the spectrum of every type of publisher and writer you might imagine. I’m honored to still be working with my initial clients from 15 years ago, and I’m always eager to meet new publishers and authors.
I love working with teams of editors, writers, artists, and translators to ideate and execute inspiring designs. My professional experiences—combined with an MBA in Business as well as an MFA in Writing & Poetics—allow me to lead from a perspective rich in contemporary industry knowledge while also emphasizing core design principles.
My design passion roots from a deep appreciation for typography and the evolution of print bursting into digital. I’m detailed-oriented, creative, and results-driven, and I approach my work from diverse experiences, with a strong vision, and a lot of listening. After all, what else is a book if not a place for listening?
I also have experience teaching, lecturing, and building curriculum at the university level for design and literature courses alike.
